New house, new grill. It really is exceptional. This is our first long-term investment grill, and, now that I see the build quality, I realize how stupid it was to buy a $100 grill every three or four years like I had. This has a higher initial price, but it's the first grill I've ever had that has reached and maintained a constant temperature and cooked consistently. Once you learn where and how to set your knobs for heat control it's as easy as cooking something in your kitchen's oven, and it's plenty big for a family of four. I'm posting a photo of the grill open with three large boneless chicken breasts to give people an idea of capacity. I'm very impressed.I can't stress how well built it is. I'd looked at the home improvements stores at their stock of higher priced Weber Spirits, but this one is less expensive and much better built. It does use a lot of plastic for the stand and side tables, but I haven't felt uncomfortable with it. It's designed well and is very solid, and much heavier than I expected. A very stable platform. It's not a deal maker or breaker, but I'd thought the lid handle light was a silly idea when I was putting the grill together (piece of cake, btw). It turned out to be a very good idea. It can be turned on manually, or it can be set to activate when the lid is lifted. No carrying flashlights out and no shadows on the food when cooking at night. It comes with couple of replaceable Weber branded tin drip pans, but I'm sure the size is something easily available in the baking aisle. It's nice to not have to use a soup can. It's little details like that make me confident the rest of the grill is as well thought out.If you keep your eyes open you'll find Amazon will have it on sale occasionally. If you don't have a garage to put it in between uses, use the money you save to buy the Q 6553 cover. It fits perfectly.

When I lived in Florida I had a large grill which I often used for BBQ for a dozen family members year around, you know the big boxy type with the lava rocks. In Michigan the BBQ season is definitely shorter and I am often cooking for just two. I wanted a grill that was easier to clean and maintain and that would take less storage space. After a year of researching the different models and reading many Amazon reviews I finally selected the Weber Q320. It took about 1.5 hours to read ALL the instructions and assemble it (which I did by myself), using only a hammer, Phillips screwdriver and a small block of wood (or anything hard).Every part from the very sturdy plastic legs and wheels to the really heavy cast iron grill grates were top quality and fit together like few things I have ever assembled before. Reading the instruction manual will also help an individual to appreciate the many fine features that have been built into the product.99% of the time after I have assembled something and then used it I make the comment, "If only they had . . . (something else that should have been designed in)." Not true with the Q320 - it meets and exceeds my expectations by a large margin. The instructions recommend preheating the unit for 5 minutes. The clam shell design makes it very energy efficient and very, very quick. I recommend no more than 2 minutes preheating as it will reach 500 degrees that quickly. The cook booklet for the unit recommends a ribeye steak be cooked for 8 to 12 minutes, and allowed to cool for 5 minutes (while it continues to cook even though it is off the grill). That results in a well done steak. Take it off the grill in 8 minutes for medium, maybe 5 for rare. The grill surface is large and can easily cook for 8 hungry adults, and it is so fast you can keep turning out medium cooked steaks about every 10 minutes.Besides the grilling experience there are two more important features. The bottom half of the clam shape grill is rounded like the top, and the bottom opens onto a drip pan with a disposable inner pan that slides in and out the underside of the grill like a drawer. As meat is cooked the grease drips down onto the round bottom and flows into the drip pan! There is virtually nothing left to clean out of the bottom of the grill - unlike the boxy units!2nd important feature is the easiest gas bottle installation ever! Just sit the bottle on the platform on the bottom rack and turn the bottle until it is locked in place - that's it!!! I did get a tank with a pressure gauge on it from Ace hardware so I know how much gas I have left and I don't have to store a backup tank. And with the fuel efficiency of the clam shell design, one tank should last all summer.I recommend the Weber Q320 to anyone who likes to grill and not have to do a lot of cleanup afterwards.

Assembling the Weber Q320 looked a bit daunting when I first opened the box and saw how many parts there were, but the directions that Weber sent where complete and well written, so my assembly much faster and more smoothly than I first thought that it would.I've owned a number of Weber grills through the years, and have always considered them well made; this unit did not disappoint. Once setup, this Weber is quite sturdy, and has a pleasant design that is attractive. There is a bit more plastic in the construction--mainly the pedestals and legs the unit rests on--than I prefer, but it doesn't affect the stability of the unit, which sits quite solidly upright. Overall, even with the plastic components, the build quality of this grill seems very good.Hooked up to a full propane tank, the Weber ignited forthwith and heated up to cooking temperature quickly. A convenient built in thermometer takes the guess work out of cooking temperatures. Two shelves at each end give good surface area for plates, utensils, and so forth; they fold down easily for storage when the grill is not in use.Inside the cooking chamber, the slotted, cast iron grilling surface gives ample surface area to cook steaks, burgers, chops, and so forth for two to four people, and is easily removed for cleaning. There is also a removable raised rack for toasting buns or other bread items. With the grill surface removed, there is ample access room to wipe cooking grease and spatters from the inside of unit.So far our Weber grill cooking efforts have been confined to beef, but the food prepared on our unit has been most satisfactory. Gas grills take a little bit of learning to achieve proper results, especially for those accustomed to grilling on charcoal. Weber includes an informative cooking guide/cookbook with the unit that explains how to get good results with a variety of different meats and other foods. The Weber Q320 is an ideal size for use by a single or a couple. Bigger families or those wanting to cook for a crowd may want to consider purchasing a larger grill, but the Weber Q320 is a great value in my opinion.
